FAQ

  • Band Shirt Day is held annnually in September, and presented by MerchFriends and Spotify, with support from Hello Merch, Bandsintown, Rough Trade NYC, and WASTOIDS.

Band Shirt Day is a global fundraising initiative, where artists come together for a single day to sell merchandise on their official sales channels and donate proceeds to charitable organizations of their choice.

  • Choose a charitable organization, project or individual to benefit.

This can be a national organization, local groups, animal shelters, an individual in need, or the official Band Shirt Day fund.

    Choose how much to donate.

Our suggested donation is 15% of gross merch sales on September 15th donated to the official Band Shirt Day Fund, which is distributed by GoFundMe. This year's recipients are the ACLU, Ally Coalition, Animal Defense Fund, MusiCares, Planned Parenthood, and Voices of Children.

There is no pressure to donate more than you’re comfortable with. We’re happy to have participation on any level.

Choose what to sell in honor of Band Shirt Day

Band Shirt Day sales happen on official sales channels, wherever you normally sell merch. To maximize fan engagement, we’re encouraging artists to list unique, limited edition t-shirts for sale, however, there are multiple options to participate.

    1. Donate a portion of proceeds from any existing t-shirt(s) in your store. This can be a good way to clear out older inventory taking up space.

    2. List limited edition t-shirt(s) for pre-order on Band Shirt Day, September 15th, to be shipped at a later date. This can eliminate up-front costs and maximize donations.

    3. Print limited edition t-shirt(s) in advance, to be released on Band Shirt Day, September 15th.
